Ham
April 20, 2015
There is no ham like ham. Because you need to understand and take into account how and, more importantly, what ham is made of. Only two ingredients are needed for ham: meat and a little salt!
What ham to buy?
According to the quality, which is mainly the amount of meat, ham is divided into three categories. In the middle, ham is labelled as lower grade ham. Below that is ham salami. And the better hams are referred to as on the bone hams.
Personally, however, I have created my own division:
- ham - those quality hams like ham off the bone etc .
- ham sausage first category - commercially referred to as ham, but what kind of ham is it if it only contains 80% meat at most and the rest is chemicals?
- second category ham salami - commercially referred to as ham salami
There is still a production ham salami, but it is not sold.
Probably because people wouldn't really eat it anymore.
But it's added as a substitute for ham in various dishes.
It is basically a waste and meatless product.
The following picture shows the various "hams".
A ham with only 80% meat that contains 15% water, these hams look pretty nice to look at.
But when you touch it, you can tell that the ham is watery, soft and doesn't hold together.
Quality ham, contains a solid 95% meat.
But even though it no longer contains substitutes, it still contains unnecessary added substances, even in the form of chemicals.
The sure thing then is making homemade ham in a ham oven.
Although the first attempts are not very hilarious or attractive to look at.
It is a better tasting product than buying the most common commercial ham products.
If done well, home-made ham not only tastes good, but can also look good:
You don't even need a ham maker to make ham, although it's convenient to make with one. The prepared ham mixture can also be cooked in a casing made of artificial material.
In a cold kitchen, a properly cooked sliced piece of meat can also be used for the pastry.
