WAHL StylePro Hair Trimmer Disassembly 09639-016
August 23, 2014
The wear and tear of time has forced another hair trimmer into my hands. This time it is a WAHL model StylePro 09639-016. The price of the machine is about 1000 CZK (2014). The first glance at the shaver already suggests a higher quality based on the more robust cutting head. and the greater weight is noticeable compared to the Philips hair trimmer model 5000 series a The QC 5040. However, to fully evaluate the condition and quality of the machine, the WAHL StylePro hair trimmer must first be disassembled.

How to disassemble the hair trimmer
Today's products are difficult to disassemble, if they can be opened at all without damage.
That's why I get emails about how to disassemble this or that.
So how do you disassemble a WAHL StylePro 09639-016 hair trimmer?
There are two screws in the bottom of the hair trimmer that need to be unscrewed.
Skillfully detach/remove the silver part of the cover at the same time as the switch.
It is also possible to separate the switch first and then the silver cover around the switch, but this is not the best practice.
There are two more screws under this cover that need to be unscrewed.
Then it is quite easy to separate the top and bottom of the hair trimmer.

Description of the inside of the hair trimmer
Inside the trimmer is a motor that is larger and thus has more power than the Philips models I've tried 5000 series a QC 5040, which had trouble cutting hair! Ironically, this made them only good for beard trimming, which they were not primarily designed for. WAHL StylePro 09639-01 hair trimmers, so thanks to a better motor, it actually cuts hair well now too. There's even a small sealing rubber band between the two halves of the machine's cover. The stack contains two Ni-MH batteries, because of this, its power supply has a higher voltage. Due to the higher voltage, the motor also delivers more power. The electronics in the machine, however, are essentially nonexistent and so, as with the battery model Philips QC 5040 battery charging is not treated in any way hence the battery overcharges and the undercharging problem is also not addressed in any way. Therefore, you can expect that even after a short time of use, the machine will work worse than at the beginning. In this case, a skilled person will replace the battery and solve the problem. Others, however, will throw away a machine that is basically fine. In today's materialistic, consumption-oriented age, the hair trimmer becomes just another ecological liability.

Experience of use
Based on the practical use of the hair trimmer, I can confirm the judgment formed during the professional inspection of the electronics of the trimmer. The machine works satisfactorily even on battery power. It cuts not only the beard but also the hair decently.

Improvements
A wireless hair trimmer is not a bad idea, but the implementation of such a device is severely lacking. I'm considering replacing the original battery with a Li-Pol/Ion one. Threw away what few components are inside and made my own charger or use a professional model charger to charge it. This improved machine would then have the advantage of a good strong battery power source, the battery wouldn't be destroyed by a real charger. This would result in trouble free functionality on battery power. Perhaps this is how the new shavers with modern batteries , which now sell for more than 3000Kč, work.
The result is yet another successful and truly ecological "disposal"
