WAHL StylePro beard and hair trimmer upgrade 09639
July 21, 2017Why throw things away when you can fix them. Yes throwing them away and buying new ones is easier and it will boost the consumer economy, but it is unsustainable in the long run. That's why I not only fix but upgrade my cordless beard and hair trimmer.
As I mentioned in an earlier article how to disassemble the WAHL StylePro 09639, the shaver could be improved. And since I have both responsibility and expertise combined, I proceeded to completely upgrade the electronics, specifically the power source.
I simplified the electronics of the machine a lot. Only the switch is used to turn on the motor. The battery pins are brought out to the external connector, which was used to connect the power supply for charging. I used the original cable because it has a connector that fits the machine. I cut the power supply from the cable and connected a standard circuit board to the cable for charging Li-Ion/Li-Pol batteries. The charging circuit is powered by 5V and there is a mini USB connector on the plate for this purpose. After connecting the adapted cable in this way, the battery in the adapted machine is then recharged.
The machine after all the modifications has more power, long lasting and hassle free and clear recharging. At the same time, I also solved the problem with the British plug, because after the modification the shaver recharges from USB :-)
As a further eco-efficiency, the Li-Pol battery I used in the razor was from a discarded e-cigarette.

After these upgrades, the razor keeps on serving. As a result, there is no further ecological burden on the planet.
