Aquaristics

I started aquaristics in my childhood. One day I saw beautiful fish in an aquarium shop, and I decided to buy them. At home I put them in a three-litre jar and enjoyed their splendour. I got the aquarium and filter from my uncle (a former aquarist). Veilworms are very voracious, so I fed them to even the biggest mosquitoes. Then I bought peacock eyes and had those for a long time, but I was bothered by the fact that they were short lived and small. I achieved nice colors by spontaneous crossbreeding and because they had tough conditions when I started, they were very hardy. I have bred parma quadruplets, but these I have not been able to propagate. I have also bred green armadillos. I also had an ancistrus, it cleaned the glass well, but it got into my filter, which was driven by a propeller, and he died. I did not use the measure of sticking a mesh on the filter outlet.

I have also had partial success with breeding Acara Green.

I managed to breed Akara Zelena over the holidays, but then it died. Next, I tried to breed Razbora Wedge-spotted, but only one male was sold and he was somehow incompetent. I had success with the Red-tailed Platy. Only I had to buy females, because they sold me, despite my warnings, all males (that could be a business trick).

During the holidays of 2005, I got a brood of Green-eyed Junco from a friend, because he had no interest in breeding them and they never survived in his community aquarium. I miraculously managed to breed a few pieces and the very next holiday of 2006 I tried to breed them.

I am currently keeping the aforementioned Green-eyed Boobies and Goldfinches and have been successful in breeding both. I also have three Ancistrus and plan to try to breed them as well. I have also acquired Schulze's Armadillos.
After various experiments with different types of filters, I finally went back to using moly air-powered filters, which I make myself, and to make better use of the compressor's power and to have the filters exactly as I want them.

I have these aquariums:

  • 330l
  • 140l
  • 180l
  • 2x50l
  • 2x25l

I grow the following plants in my aquariums:

I offer for sale from my aquariums all kinds of plants I also sell green-eyed boobies and goldfinches from my own breeding.

Gradually, after various experiments and tests, I have phased out canister filters that have a small volume of filter mass and where the water flow is created by a propeller. And everywhere I use air-powered foam filters.

In 2013 I bought a new even bigger aquarium 330L in which I created built-in air-powered foam filter.

The aquarium is 110cm long by 60cm wide and with a height of 60cm it is excellent for growing large aquarium plants such as Cryptocoryne aponogetifolia - Cryptocoryne aponogetifolia.
