ThinkPad 600 with GNU/Linux

August 23, 2007

Lang: cs en de es

In the family we have one laptop, an old computer that is basically unusable these days. But since it is portable and I use the GNU/Linux OS, I wanted to get it running again. With the laptop there was a problem with the protection from IBM. The laptop had not been used for a long time and both the power battery and the battery that powers the BIOS CMOS chip had gone flat. The laptop then locked itself and asked for a password after being switched on. After quite some time we solved that and then we also solved the password for the disk. And all that was left was to try a proper OS on it.
