Wireless Battery-Powered WiFi Thermometer

While 8-bit processors have long been the norm, and ARM-architecture processors are settling into the field of embedded single-purpose devices and computers, devices with an SoC (System on Chip) are appearing on the scene, containing everything needed from the CPU all the way to the WiFi interface.

With these new electronic components you can develop modern electronic devices. This can range from simple temperature sensors to more complex devices, which can in turn be connected to sophisticated control systems.

The device with the temperature sensor is wirelessly connected to the Internet via WiFi, and the measured data is stored on the Internet. So it's an IoT (Internet of Things) device. Data can be stored, for example, on the server thingspeak.com, where the measured data can be displayed. By modifying the program, the data can also be sent anywhere else.

A WiFi temperature sensor like this is suitable for measuring room temperature, or the water temperature in an aquarium. With suitable enclosure and installation, the device can also be used for measuring outdoor temperature and humidity.

Full mobility of the device is also helped by battery power.

After creating a different program, the sensor can be connected, for example, to a sensor network that serves as a weather station.

Once additional sensors are connected, the device can also be used to measure humidity, pressure, or other, even non-meteorological, values. The evaluation is then handled by custom-developed software.
